There is nothing like sinking in to a big fluffy bed after a long day. I love all things bedding, which is why I was so excited to try, and review, the SithonII sleeping pillow by COCO-MAT. Little did I know, COCO-MAT is about a lot more than just being fluffy and comfy.
COCO-MAT was founded in 1989 in Greece, where it initially started manufacturing mattresses out of natural raw materials. Today, COCO-MAT also produces pillows, furniture and bed linens. They were also the first company to introduce the use of the ever popular top-mattress with the aim of improving sleeping posture. All of COCO-MAT’s products are made from 100% natural materials such as seaweed, coco fiber, natural rubber, and pure wool. And they take their, or should I say your, sleep seriously.
Did you knowthat the distance between the shoulder and the neck when sleeping on your side is 2.5 to 5 times bigger than the void behind the neck. This is why we often put our hand under the pillow or we fold the pillow when we move to the side. Simultaneously, the pressure on our shoulder and our neck is what causes cervical syndrome as well as lumbago. COCO-MAT’s pillows are designed in such a way that they adapt perfectly to the little differences of each body. The pillow I tried, Sithon II, is an orthocervical pillow filled with natural rubber flakes and goose down. It consists out of four compartments: the horizontal one which constitutes the neck roll is filled with natural rubber, the other three with down. The neck roll compartment carries a zipper which enables you to remove the filling in order to adjust it to your body type turning your sleep experience into a comfortable and healthier one.
But enough about the technical stuff. On to fluff, literally. It arrived in a silky cotton carrying case which was a nice touch. It was apparent that the materials the pillow was constructed from are of very high quality as well. Upon laying on it I concluded that this pillow is feathery heaven. Your head and neck simultaneously sink and mold into it. My husband, who has chronic neck issues, tried this pillow out during a recent kink episode and was able to resolve his discomfort in just a few nights. It usually requires a few trips to the chiropractor for him to get those kind of results. My kids love it too. When they come in to my bed to cuddle in the morning, they fight over who gets the blue pillow (its in a blue pillowcase). Which leads me to believe that we need to get a few more. Although they are not cheap ( price range from $84-189), they may be worth the price tag if you have achiness and stiffness when you sleep.
