If you live in a large city like Manhattan, you probably know that keeping a garden is near impossible, if not absolutely impossible. Usually people are living in an apartment in a building very high up, without any kind of balcony or terrace. If you really want plants or herbs, you can just grow them in pots and place them near a bright window. But what if your brightest window is not near your kitchen and you’ve got those darn herbs you need to pick for cooking? It would be nice if you could carry what you needed easily and without making a mess. Well, here’s an invention that will make your garden compact, simple and portable. It’s so cool!
Italian designers Katia Mattioli and Iskra Squera created The Zerotreunouno with inspiration “stemming” from the vintage milk crate. The “Transportable Kitchen Garden” is elegant and simple. Besides the six ceramic cups for planting, the portable garden includes drain holes in each cup and a handle for easy transport—from the terrace for maximum sun, to the kitchen for harvest. They suggest planting herbs for cooking, but really the possibilities are endless. I’ve even seen desert plants like cacti and succulents which looks like fun, since they are such small plants. Live in a city? Get a Transportable Garden!
