I’m sure we’ve all been hearing about Mel Gibson and the madness that is surrounding his relationship with girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, the recorded phone conversations and their little 8 month old baby.  The whole situation saddens me because in the past, I have been a huge fan of the man hoping that he just made a few mistakes along the way.  But we’re now realizing it may just be the way he is.  Being that he and Grigorieva are splitting, he was finally able to sell his 75-acre Connecticut estate, Old Mill Farm.  The property that was on the market for a three years, sold on July 1st to Cosette Property LLC for a $24 million.  Gibson bought the farm back in 1994 for $9.3 million while he was still married to now ex-wife Robyn.  Hm….. I’m noticing trends along the way.

The house consists of over 15,000 square feet which is a lot of room for, what would be, just one man.  The home’s decor is that of a British castle high up in the hills with it’s 40+ foot ceilings, velvet upholstery, church-style stained glass windows and gigantic fireplace.  I guess the dining room says grab the local knights and have a feast too!  But it is also full of detail in the hand-carved ceilings and wood paneled walls.  The kitchen is also a two-parter.  The official preparation kitchen area can be sectioned off by two sliding oak doors so that the dining area and smaller kitchen can have privacy.  Once you begin looking at the bedrooms, you notice a little creepiness.  I don’t know, I love this style and would kill to live here, but as I mentioned in Save the Old Beach House, when I walk into (or in this case, see) a home or place that is very old I see people of the time roaming around.  So, I’m a little uneasy looking at the bedrooms.  Especially the kids.  But, I digress.

The home has horse stables, a green house, an oversized pool, putting green and a human sized garden chess set.  And if you happen to be a guest at this home in the future, you can stay in the many rooms of the main house or in the large guest house with 2 apartments.  Want a full tour?  Check this out and you’ll see what I’m talking about.
