Dining tables have moved away from your traditional wood legs and table top to a plethora of fabulous materials like glass.  Over the past few decades, it seems that glass top tables have become a staple to transitional design.

Glass is that kind of material which lends to traditional design homes as well as modern and contemporary design. Glass is a super easy material to keep clean so it is great if you have a really messy family that tends to spill a lot on the dining table.  The drawback is that glass scratches like no one’s business.  So, it may not actually be the best type of table top if you have kinds and expect it to stay perfect forever.  If you do get scratches in your glass table top, call up your local auto glass repair company and they can often fix surface scratches.

If you love glass but hate the fact that it scratches, opt for crackle glass.  Not only is it just about the coolest material out there, it helps hide scratches on the surface because of all of the cracked glass underneath it.  It is really heavy however because it is typically 3 layers of glass bonded together.

Another great thing about glass is that it is translucent so it is visually light in a space.  If you have a small kitchen, glass will not take up a lot of visual room and will make your room look more appropriately designed.
