When you need a way to bring the outside in, mirrors are a great solution.  You can choose small mirrors on a wall or large mirrors on the floor.  Floor mirrors are a perfect way to make a large statement in a room.

When placing a floor mirror, or any mirror for that matter, you need to be aware of what it is reflecting.  Is it a view worth looking at or just a space filler?  If you are just trying to fill a space, always choose a piece of art over a mirror.  You don’t want to reflect a dirty kitchen or a view of another wall.  Floor mirrors offer a large surface for reflection, so it is best to have it facing a window.  It is a great way to bring the outside in and also a sneaky way to spy on your neighbors without them knowing.

Floor mirror in a bedroom are part of the exception when considering what it is reflecting.  Usually they are used for dressing purposes and should be placed in a part of the room with optimal lighting.  It just so happens that natural lighting is the most flattering lighting for colors, so still, try to put it near a window.
