There are so many great artists on Etsy but so little time to find and appreciate them all! Look for a new artist to be featured here each week.
This week’s featured artist is Rachel Heath for her simple and beautiful depictions of nature and landscapes. She’s self-taught and lives and works out of sunny San Diego, CA. Considering the subjects of her work it’s no surprise that she cites nature as a big source of inspiration but she also says she sometimes finds it in pop and folk art styles. She describes her work as minimalistic, harmonious, and romantic, and although she paints and creates full-time she’s yet another artist who’s just started selling her work online. She works in a variety of mediums but says she favors acrylics due to a lack of patience “waiting for paint to dry.”
Known on Etsy as ‘acrylicimpressions‘ my favorite from Rachel Heath’s shop is this haunting red forest scene titled “Tales of Passion.” I like it for the earthy but vibrant mix of colors and the surreal use of red. It’s all very haunting, in a good way, and is both easy stare at and easy to use in a decor scheme (as long as you love red). It was originally done in acrylics on canvas but this version is an 8 1/2″ x 11″ print and is available for $18.
