What’s your decorating style? Look for these clues to get an idea.
- Multiples Look around your house for multiples of similar items, repeats of colors, shapes, or styles.
- Form over function Do you have pieces that you love so much you keep them even though they really should be replaced? (Like an old couch, desk, lamp, etc.)
- Oddballs Any item that stands out in a room because it doesn’t really go is probably indicative of a style you like but don’t want to commit to all the way.
- Where you shop What stores do you most like to browse in even when you’re not really looking to buy?
- Impulse purchases The stuff that catches your eye and inspires a last minute purchase, even if it’s just a pattern on a hand towel or color scheme, is a clue to what you really like.
- Best room What’s your favorite room in the house? Figure out why you love it so much and repeat your design scheme in other rooms.
- Art Because it serves no function or purpose (other than eye candy) and is based primarily in emotions and psychology, the style of art you prefer says a lot.
- Travel tastes What types of vacations do you like, fast paced city adventures or relaxing seaside retreats? And is your ideal hotel room a luxe penthouse suite or a cozy bed and breakfast?
