Exterior illumination isn’t just for Christmas and other holiday celebrations! There are a variety of needs and desires that require the use of well-lit outdoor scenes. From sport-court and driveway lighting to landscape lighting features along walkways and through gardens and outdoor sitting areas, and so on. There are also wonderful flood light and motion light options available that can be programmed to timers, or set to motion detection.
The Need for Outdoor Lighting
Beyond the most obvious uses for outdoor lighting, and the use of flood lights and motion lights, there is a genuine need for a safe exterior. Unfortunately, statistics prove that most crimes having to do with vandalism or home-theft, occur at night. Most often these incidents occur when residents aren’t within the home, yet proper exterior lighting offers a safer environment and helps prevent such activity.
Exterior lighting also allows visitors to easily find their way onto the driveway, around plants, pets and any decorative articles possessing value within a driving or walking path. Outdoor lighting floods, and motion detectors can easily be incorporated into a housing design, renovation, remodel or can simply be added when desired.
Outdoor Lighting – Flood Lights
Flood lights and lamps are great for your permanent or occasional outdoor lighting needs. Floods are a great source of light on a deck or patio area for summer barbecues, or on the driveway or sport-court for a few great late-night basketball tournaments. If you like to entertain and enjoy frequent guests, flood lights are a great tool to help provide a safer environment to your wanted visitors.
Outdoor Lighting – Motion Lights
Once you’re down for the evening, or away from your home, you still want to enjoy a safe and secure home. Motion lights offer a couple great benefits. For starters, when you’re leaving your home at night, and heading to the driveway, or stepping out to walk a pet, the motion light will shed ample illumination onto your path.
Motion lights are also great for providing a security measure in the event that an unwanted guest or vandal was approaching your home. Generally, people doing things they’re not supposed to be doing, don’t want to be seen in the process. Once the motion light it triggered, it will flood the immediate area with light. These work as great deterrents to any unwelcome strangers approaching your home.
Installing Outdoor Flood and Motion Lights
If you’d like your outdoor lighting installation done well, and you don’t possess the do-it-yourself skills yourself, you’ll want to enlist the help of a professional electrician. There are many brands and models you can choose from, and stores such as Home Depot and Lowe’s carry a few great options. If you’re looking to go all out for a sport-court, deck or patio area, you might consider a retailer such as Techline Sports Lighting, or an online retailer such as the Flood Lighting Store.

I need contact information to locate just the "eye" that detects motion near and at my front door to activate three lights already located there. Lowes and local lighting stores and internet has not been helpful. Thank you.
